Intellian begins a new era of television viewing by being the first to offer the most high-definition (HD) channels while at sea. Intellian’s k-series is the world’s first in-motion, marine satellite TV antenna system that is compatible with the Ka-band. The k4 and i4 dual antenna system keeps you in touch with the same programming that you enjoy at home. Boaters can enjoy over 130 HD channels. With its 17.7” dish, Intellian k4 is compact and compatible with Intellian i4, i3 and even i2 as a deluxe fully integrated dual antenna system. Now boaters can enjoy HD programming from two Ka-band satellites and three Ku-band satellites at sea in exactly the same way as they do at home.
Up to now, It is a well known fact that the marine satellite antenna systems which tracks ka-band signal is hard to imagine since it is more difficult to design a Ka-band system than Ku-band system. First, the Ka-band signal is broadcast at higher frequency (18~20 GHz) than a signal in the Ku-band (10.7~12.75 GHz). Second, the beam-width of a signal in the Ka-band is much narrower than beam-width of a signal in the Ku-band. Therefore, the Ka-band antenna requires extremely precise and advanced tracking capabilities for when the vessel is moving. Finally, the Ka-band entails more complexity in terms of equipment, installation, and use by the television viewer.
The k4, with Intellian’s two patented technologies, Wide Range Search (WRS) algorithm and Dynamic Beam Tilting (DBT), and self-developed Ka-band RF components such as Ka-band LNB, Reflector and Feed-horn, has not only solved the difficulties of receiving the Ka-signal but also been optimized for maritime use. These elements are the key technologies to lead the marine industry into the new era of receiving stable and reliable Ka-band signal at sea.
Thanks to the Intellian’s exclusive all-in-one dual antenna system, satellite TV service subscribers can enjoy and switch various HD channels tracking both one of the Ka-band satellites(99˚W or 103˚W) and one of the Ku-band satellites(101˚W, 110˚W, or 119˚W) simultaneously without constraint. Also, the k4 comes with the Intellian newly designed 19” rack-mount Dual Antenna Control Unit (DACU) allows a hassle-free installation with its plug-and-play interface; even a starter is able to install it! The most amazing design element of the DACU is the 8 multi-connectors on the rear panel which allows the boaters to directly connect up to 8 HD satellite receivers from different locations on the boat without the need for installing extra multi-switches and complicated wiring.

Full High-Definition (HD) Channel Availability
Ka-band signal reception for 99˚W and 103˚W satellites which are currently broadcasting
more than 130 HD channels nationwide.
Dual Antenna System
Enjoy watching channels tracking both one of the Ku-band satellites (101˚W, 110˚W, or
119˚W) and one of the Ka-band satellites (99˚W or 103˚W) simultaneously, using Intellian's exclusive
dual antenna system.
Wide Range Search (WRS) Algorithm
Since the Ka-band signal has a very narrow beam width, the searching time may be extended if the
antenna system is using the conventional searching method of searching for only the main lobe.
Intellian’s patent-pending technology, WRS, can utilize the side lobes of the Ka-band signal and
jump onto the main lobe directly which will shorten the searching time significantly.
Dynamic Beam Tilting (DBT) Technology
An advanced tracking technology is required for tracking the very narrow beam-width of the Ka-
band signal. The DBT patent-pending technology allows the k-Series to have the most reliable and
accurate tracking capability while the vessel is cruising at high speed or in rough sea conditions.
New Rack-Mount Dual Antenna Control Unit (DACU)
Controls two antennas at once and allows switching of channels freely amongst 5 Ka- and Ku satellites
using a TV remote control. Includes DACU’s built-in HD and MIM modules. Also, the DACU easily
connects up to 8 receivers directly from different rooms without additional multi-switches and wiring
to the DACU’s built-in 8 receiver connectors.
NMEA 0183 GPS Interface
A GPS Interface supports an external GPS which can provide the k-Series even higher performance
