The AIS transmit function works by broadcasting a digital signal that contains information about your boat’s identity, speed and direction to other AIS equipped vessels in your area. Your vessel information is in turn displayed as an icon on other vessels’ chart displays, along with text information about your identity, position, heading, speed, etc.
